Rising bets on a Trump victory in the U.S. presidential election have pushed emerging-market currencies lower, especially the Brazilian real, Mexican peso, Colombian peso and Chilean peso. The real touched R$5.73 per dollar, up 4.59% for the month, and one-month implied volatility has spiked.
Tariff threats on Mexico and China would disrupt U.S. agricultural export flows and could shift demand toward Brazil. A weaker real makes Brazilian grain and meal cheaper, adding pressure to global feed prices.
