The yuan fell to its weakest level in nearly four months after Donald Trump said he would impose a 25% tariff on all products from Mexico and Canada and an additional 10% on Chinese goods. Offshore yuan dropped about 0.3% to 7.2730 per dollar.
The move followed the tariff announcement.
Broad tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China threaten to disrupt North American and Chinese trade flows in feed grains and meals, which weighs on US export demand. A weaker yuan also raises the cost of Chinese imports, adding to the bearish pressure on US agricultural exports.
