Banrep cut its policy rate by 25 basis points to 9.25% on April 30, resuming its easing cycle with a unanimous vote. The bank downgraded its 2025 GDP growth forecast to 2.6% from 2.8%, citing trade tensions and lower oil export prices.
Lower rates may support domestic activity, but weaker oil export prices and a higher risk premium point to pressure on the peso, which affects Colombian feed import costs.
