Russian strikes have halted Ukraine's deepwater grain exports, and about 92 to 95 percent of export grain now reaches ports by a single rail line. Deepwater terminal capacity has fallen to four to five million tons a month from about seven million.
Transit fees and proposed rail rate increases are adding cost.
A sharp drop in Ukrainian port capacity removes a major supply source for global wheat and corn buyers and supports higher prices. Higher rail and transit costs also raise delivered prices.
