Reuters reports that EPA's record biofuel targets require soybean-based biodiesel producers to boost output by over 60% this year. Industry groups warn that feedstock, supply and capacity constraints could make the targets hard to meet, raising credit market volatility risk.
Fuel prices had surged during the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran when the targets were set in late March.
Higher required biodiesel output would lift demand for soybean oil and crush, supporting soy complex prices, while unmet targets could push up RIN credit prices and create volatility.
