China's soybean buying from the US has picked up since the May Trump-Xi summit, with a 238,000-ton purchase reported by USDA. Buyers took advantage of lower prices, paying premiums of about $3.03 per bushel over November CBOT for US Gulf shipments.
Purchases at lower prices and premium payments support US soybean export basis and demand, though buying is policy-driven. Traders are watching for further signals before the September meeting.
