A USDA GAIN report says Argentine farmers are shifting from cereals to soybeans because of high fertilizer prices. Soybean planted area is forecast to rise 4% to 17 million hectares, producing 51 million tonnes in 2022/23, while corn area is expected to fall.
Larger expected soybean output and crush point to more soymeal and oil supply, which is bearish for soybeans. Lower corn acreage reduces corn export availability, which supports corn prices.
