Brazil's 2022/23 safrinha corn was 12% planted in late January compared with 24% a year earlier, according to AgRural, as wet weather slowed planting in central Brazil. Mato Grosso was 16.4% planted versus 42% last year and a 31.5% average.
Late planting could push more of the crop past the ideal window, raising frost and dry-season risks to yields and supporting corn prices.
