Michigan State University researchers found that adding in-season water deficit data to satellite-based crop models improves corn yield predictions at the subfield level. The study used Landsat data and was led by Bruno Basso and Guanyuan Shuai.
Better subfield yield forecasts are a methodological advance with no immediate effect on supply, so the price impact is minimal.
