DTN explains that corn yields decline when temperatures exceed 86 F and that heat above 95 F can reduce pollen production. Heat can also reduce pollen drop in humid conditions and intensify water stress after pollination.
Forecasts called for temperatures 10 to 15 F above average in the final week of July.
Heat-related yield risk during pollination supports corn prices while the forecast heat persists.
