Commodity futures fell sharply after the USDA's August 10 crop production report, which was more optimistic than expected. The report put US soybean production at a record 4.38 billion bushels, and November soybean futures fell as much as 52 cents.
Arkansas corn, rice and sorghum production forecasts were lower.
A record US soybean crop estimate and higher yield expectations add ample supply to the market, pressuring soybean and corn prices. Buyers can expect lower feed costs in the near term.
