Indian soybean meal exports fell 74% in the 2015/16 marketing season ending March 31, to 387,297 tonnes. Indian meal was priced above world market offers after domestic soybean production dropped, so South American supplies won share in key buyers such as Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Japan and Taiwan.
Lower Indian exports reduce global soymeal supply in the short term, while competitive South American offers keep world meal prices anchored.
