概要
Manufacturing Process
The manufacturing process of choline chloride involves a chemical reaction between trimethylamine (TMA) and ethylene oxide (EO). Trimethylamine is typically derived from natural gas or coal gasification, while ethylene oxide is obtained from the petrochemical industry. This reaction is known as quaternization, wherein trimethylamine reacts with ethylene oxide to form choline chloride. The reaction requires the presence of a catalyst, such as alkali or acid catalysts. Reaction conditions, including temperature, pressure, and reactant ratios, are carefully controlled to achieve optimal yield and quality. After the reaction is complete, the resulting mixture contains choline chloride along with by-products and unreacted starting materials.
