Oil prices plunged after President Trump said Tehran was standing down from its retaliation for the U.S. killing of a top Iranian general. Iran's missile attack on U.S. bases in Iraq caused no reported U.S. fatalities.
Prices had earlier spiked on supply-disruption fears before falling as tensions eased.
The fading threat of supply disruption removes the risk premium from crude, pressuring energy benchmarks lower. Lower energy costs can ease feed manufacturing and freight expenses.
