China has resumed purchases of Canadian canola after a deal to reduce tariffs and suspend a 100% duty on canola meal. Crushers have booked at least about 600,000 tons, mainly for loading March to April, with some canola meal booked for April to June.
Restored Chinese demand for Canadian canola and meal supports ICE canola futures and displaces Australian supply, tightening availability for buyers. Further bookings would reinforce the price firmness.
