US natural gas futures soared as much as 17% as forecasts showed a deep freeze returning in mid-February. Gas supplies in Oklahoma, the Texas Panhandle and Arkansas fell 22% in a day as frozen pipelines limited flow.
Freeze-offs cut production just as heating demand and exports rise, tightening supply and lifting natural gas prices.
