The dollar rose to an eight-week high on Tuesday after Chicago Fed President Charles Evans took a hawkish tone and said further quantitative easing may not help the economy much. Fed Chair Jerome Powell also testified to Congress that the economy had shown marked improvement but faced an uncertain path.
Hawkish Fed signals lift the dollar and push down dollar-denominated commodity prices, while a stronger dollar tends to weigh on US export competitiveness for feed grains.
