The Indian rupee rose 24 paise to 68.08 per dollar, a one-week high, on dollar selling by banks and exporters. Dealers attributed the rally to a weaker US dollar after Donald Trump's press conference offered little clarity on stimulus and trade policy.
A stronger rupee makes Indian imports of feed inputs cheaper in rupee terms and slightly dampens export competitiveness; the effect on grain and oilseed prices is minor.
