Mexico's central bank unveiled a $20 billion currency hedging programme that lets policymakers counter peso volatility without using foreign exchange reserves. The peso held near a three-month high of 19.70 per dollar after hitting an all-time low of 21.95 following Trump's election.
The currency support lowers the peso cost of imported US grain and feed ingredients, which can sustain Mexican buying interest for US corn and soymeal.
