NOPA members crushed 160.6 million bushels of soybeans in January 2017, the third-busiest January on record and slightly above estimates. Crush from September through January set a record 3.4% above the prior period high.
Exports have overtaken domestic crush as the top use, but processors have found fewer buyers for soymeal than hoped.
Record crush builds meal supply, and weaker-than-hoped meal demand could pressure soymeal prices even as large crush supports soybean bean demand.
