Iowa's 12 biodiesel plants produced a record 297 million gallons last year, 55 million above 2015. Speakers at the Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit said they expect President Trump to maintain a strong Renewable Fuel Standard, though the federal biodiesel tax credit has lapsed.
Strong biodiesel output supports soybean oil demand, but the lapsed tax credit may cut 2017 production, which is a bearish factor for soyoil. Expectations for RFS support provide some offset.
