Sources say the Trump administration plans to shift the biofuel blending obligation away from U.S. refiners. The Renewable Fuel Standard requires increasing amounts of biofuel blended into gasoline and diesel.
Moving the blending burden off refiners could change who bears compliance costs and may alter the demand pull for biofuel feedstocks such as soyoil and corn. A reduced obligation would be bearish for biofuel demand and feedstock prices.
