US food producers are visiting Mexico to reassure longtime buyers as the NAFTA renegotiation creates uncertainty over trade terms. Some US sales to Mexico have stalled, and buyers are exploring new sources of grains, corn, dairy and meat.
Mexico is the third-largest export market for American farmers.
Buyers shifting sourcing away from the US would reduce export demand for US corn and other feed-related commodities, adding downside price pressure.
