Malaysia says it is still negotiating with Indonesia to standardise crude palm oil export duty structures and has not finalised anything. Refiners complain that the duty mismatch has caused a discount of US$15 to US$30 per tonne on palm oil products traded between the two countries.
A harmonised export duty could shift regional palm oil pricing and trade flows, but no decision has been made, so the near-term price effect is limited.
