The FAO estimates the 2016-17 world cereal harvest at a record 2.6 billion tonnes, with global grain stocks reaching a record of about 682 million tonnes. India is also heading for a record cereal crop, with wheat output rising as the previous year's crop is counted.
Record world output and stocks increase global grain supplies and pressure prices lower, which lowers feed grain costs for buyers.
