DDGS prices are 47% below their June 2016 high of $92.5 per short ton as Chinese demand slides. US DDGS imports into China fell 69% year on year in the six months through February after Chinese anti-dumping and countervailing tariffs.
Loss of China as a buyer has pushed US DDGS exports to 10-year lows and cut prices, making DDGS a cheaper protein option for feed buyers. Lower ethanol prices and record stocks could also squeeze producer margins.
