Mexico is weighing retaliation in trade talks with the US, using its position as the largest buyer of American corn. Much of the corn Mexico consumes comes from the United States, and Mexico has taken Trump's threats to overhaul NAFTA seriously.
Any move by Mexico to shift purchases away from US corn would weaken US export demand and pressure corn prices lower.
