Pro-Trump corn, soybean and dairy farmers are worried that Trump's push to roll back NAFTA could disrupt exports to Mexico, which bought about $2.3 billion of US corn in 2015, almost all GMO. A White House source said NAFTA 'as we know it today will change'.
Mexico is a major buyer of US corn, so any threat to the trade pact raises risk of lower US corn export demand and wider basis discounts, while encouraging Mexican buyers to shift toward South American supply.
