Edible oil prices turned volatile after a sharp drop over recent weeks driven by rising production, benign exports and large South American and Indian crops. Biodiesel blending expansion in South America and Southeast Asia has also been cited as a support factor.
Expanded biodiesel mandates, including Indonesia's higher blending target, could lift vegetable oil demand and prices. Ample supply from South America and India currently offsets that support.
