Corn grind for ethanol has not shown its usual seasonal rise this year. The slowdown is attributed mainly to declining crude oil prices and lower protein prices.
Lower ethanol grind reduces both corn demand and DDGS output, which is bearish for corn and supportive for DDGS prices. Weaker crude prices are cutting ethanol margins and processing incentives.
