Oil World estimates global palm oil output will rise 7.1 million tonnes in 2017 to 66 million tonnes, with Indonesia at 35.6 million tonnes and Malaysia at 20 million tonnes. Global exports for January to September 2017 are seen exceeding expectations by 2.9 million tonnes.
A larger-than-expected production increase and strong exports point to ample palm oil supply, which is bearish for palm prices and supportive of demand for competing vegetable oils to a lesser degree.
