The House Agriculture Committee held its first 2018 farm bill listening session in Gainesville, Florida, on June 24, 2017. Chairman Mike Conaway said the next bill will have fewer resources than the 2014 law and must be completed before the current bill expires on September 30, 2018.
Farm bill uncertainty and reduced funding affect producer income and planting decisions over time, but it does not directly shift near-term grain or feed supply and demand.
