Gro Intelligence reports that US pork exports to China-Hong Kong are down year-to-date through June compared with 2016. Variety meat exports are bucking the trend, up 19% year on year.
China's hog herd is declining, and buyers are turning to US supply for items such as pig snouts, ears, liver and feet.
Shrinking Chinese hog numbers are pulling in US variety meat exports, which supports demand for those cuts. The effect on overall pork prices is limited while total exports still fall.
