India's non-basmati rice exports are expected to slow as a rupee rally of over 6.5% in 2017 and higher local paddy prices make Indian rice uncompetitive. Indian 5% broken parboiled was offered around $410 a tonne against Thai at $390-392 and Vietnamese at $400-405.
Higher Indian export prices shift demand toward Vietnamese and Thai rice, supporting those origins while easing pressure on Indian export values.
