U.S. grain and soybean futures extended losses after a USDA monthly report raised domestic corn production and supply forecasts while trimming corn demand and the soybean harvest estimate. Chicago December corn fell 45 cents to $5.84 per bushel and November soybeans dropped 58-3/4 cents.
Losses were compounded by lower energy prices and a stronger U.S. dollar.
Higher U.S. corn supplies and lower demand expectations add to bearish pressure on feed grain prices, which lowers feed input costs for buyers. The smaller soybean crop estimate partly offsets this for soy-based feeds.
