Strategie Grains cut its forecast for the 2018 EU soft wheat area by 0.3% from October, to 23.5 million hectares. FranceAgriMer lowered its 2017/18 French wheat export forecast by 250,000 tonnes, and Japan bought 125,600 tonnes of milling wheat from the US, Canada and Australia.
A smaller EU wheat area and lower French export projections tighten exportable supply, which supports wheat prices, while Japan's purchase adds modest demand for origin-competing wheat.
