Irish feed manufacturers report difficulty securing vitamin A and E after the BASF factory fire in Germany. Feed companies plan price increases of €5 to €7 per tonne, with one citing a €3/t rise for vitamins plus higher hull costs.
The global vitamin scarcity is pushing compound feed prices up, squeezing livestock margins and adding cost to dairy and beef rations. The pressure is likely to persist until BASF restores capacity.
