The USDA announced November 2023 Federal Milk Marketing Order class prices on Nov. 29.
The Class III price rose 31 cents to $17.15 per cwt, while the Class IV price fell 62 cents to $20.87 and the Class II price fell 74 cents to $21.21. The Class III-IV spread stayed wide, which maintains incentives for Class IV depooling.
Federal order class prices set the minimum prices processors must pay farmers, so the divergence between Class III and Class IV shapes milk check returns and pooling decisions. The mixed moves leave the overall direction of farm milk prices unclear.
