The EIA's latest Short-Term Energy Outlook expects Henry Hub natural gas to average $2.88/MMBtu in 2018 and $2.92 in 2019, slightly below the 2017 average of $2.99. The forecast assumes higher production and roughly flat consumption, with gas-fired power generation rising on low prices.
A flat-to-lower gas price outlook keeps feed-related energy and fertilizer costs contained, with little support for gas-linked feed inputs. Power-sector gas burn is the main demand offset.
