California dairy groups asked the state agriculture department for an emergency hearing to raise minimum milk prices for April 2018 through March 2019. The proposal seeks a 60-cent per cwt increase for Class 1, 2 and 3 milk and smaller increases for Class 4a and 4b.
A higher state minimum price would raise California's cost of milk if approved, but the request is a proposal and has no immediate effect on national milk supply.
