China halted all milo imports from the U.S. after new U.S. tariffs on Chinese solar panels and washing machines, leaving Gulf grain companies with no bids. Local sorghum prices collapsed after trading had been 15 to 20 cents over corn.
China has historically taken 80 to 90% of U.S. sorghum exports.
With China absorbing most U.S. sorghum exports, a full import halt removes the main demand source and pushes sorghum prices below corn.
