South Korean egg prices fell sharply from last year's levels despite mass culling of chickens after avian influenza outbreaks since November. The Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp data showed a 30-egg carton at 4,718 won, while egg-laying hens rose 40.9 percent year on year.
A rebound in egg-laying flock size increases feed demand for corn and soymeal in South Korea, though the oversupply pushes prices down and may slow restocking.
