Indian non-basmati rice exporters fear a sharp rise in the minimum support price for paddy, proposed at 50 per cent over production cost. They say India's rice shipments have already exceeded 10 million tonnes for April-January.
A higher Indian MSP would raise export prices and could erode India's competitiveness, supporting world rice prices if the increase is large.
