US wheat futures fell on April 16, led by a sharp drop in K.C. hard red winter wheat after forecasts of rain in the Plains. Analysts had expected USDA to report 30% of winter wheat rated good to excellent, unchanged from the prior week.
Rain forecasts improve harvest prospects for drought-hit HRW wheat, easing supply concerns and pressuring prices. Feed wheat buyers may see softer cash values if rains materialize.
