The Fed left rates unchanged at its latest meeting but may raise them by a total of 75 basis points this year. The Fed's target range is 1.50-1.75%, well above the ECB's -0.4% deposit rate and the BoJ's -0.1% short-term rate.
A widening rate gap favors the dollar, which tends to pressure dollar-denominated grain and oilseed prices and makes US exports relatively more expensive. A firmer dollar also weakens the euro and other currencies that buy US feed ingredients.
