Soybean meal futures rose $12 to $15 per ton after a USDA-confirmed private export sale of 100,000 metric tons to Italy. The rally was also supported by the USDA's April WASDE report and a record US crush forecast.
A new export sale and a larger crush both tighten meal balances, supporting soybean meal prices. The record crush adds supply, which limits the upside.
