The National Taxpayers Union urged senators to back several amendments to the Senate farm bill, including the Corker-Toomey measure requiring congressional approval of Section 232 tariffs and a Durbin-Grassley crop insurance AGI test change. The group argues that trade uncertainty is a bigger threat to farmers than subsidies.
This is advocacy rather than a new policy decision, so its price effect is minimal. It signals continued pressure to limit tariff authority, which bears on the trade risk premium for US farm commodities.
