Russia's meat imports fell almost 70% in the first half of 2018 to 203,500 tonnes, with pork imports down more than fourfold. The drop follows Brazil restrictions from November 2017 and an extended food embargo through December 2019.
Sharply lower Russian meat imports reduce import demand for global pork and beef, while the embargo extension keeps this trade structurally restricted.
