USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue welcomed a preliminary US-Mexico trade agreement announced August 27, 2018 as part of the NAFTA renegotiation. The deal includes new agricultural biotechnology language and says it will not block exports of GMO crops from US farms to Mexico.
Preserving access for biotech corn and other GM crops to Mexico, the largest US corn and DDGS buyer, supports demand for US feed grains and co-products and removes a key source of uncertainty for prices.
