The US Trade Representative confirmed 10% tariffs on a range of Chinese products, including meat-based animal feed, dead animals unfit for human consumption and some pig meat, effective 24 September and rising to 25% on 1 January. China announced retaliatory duties on US meat exports from the same date, some higher than US rates.
Tit-for-tat duties on meat and meat-based feed inputs disrupt export flows and could weigh on US meat-by-product demand and related feed ingredient prices.
